If you or a loved one have been hurt in a nursing home and are a victim of abuse, it\u2019s important that you get the legal help you need. You shouldn\u2019t have to live in fear of a nurse or orderly who injures you, just as you shouldn\u2019t have to be concerned about dangerous residents injuring you.<\/p>\n
Elder abuse is very real, and physical violence, stealing, sexual abuse and other concerns must be noted and investigated. Federal law requires the rights of residents to be protected. That means that any of the following may be a violation of your rights.<\/p>\n
\u2014 Abuse. You should be free from verbal, sexual and physical abuse whether you\u2019re at a nursing home<\/a> or in your own home.<\/p>\n \u2014 Restraints. These should not be used as a convenience or punishment. If they are, you could cite negligence or abuse.<\/p>\n \u2014 Fear. Fear is a kind of abuse as well. You should never have to fear for yourself just because you want to report something bad that has happened to the staff or make a complaint about a problem you have.<\/p>\n
