Biography
For three decades Howard, an invited member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, has
zealously represented seriously injured clients in both State and Federal Courts, litigating cases involving a variety of causes of action, such as wrongful death, birth/brain injuries, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, product liability, motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, bad-faith litigation against insurance companies, animal and dog bites, boating and water accidents and pedestrian accidents. Birth/brain injury verdict – $8,583,000
Howard E. Skolnick represented the Plaintiffs in a medical malpractice suit against MetroHealth Medical Center, and after nearly a three week trial, the jury returned an $8.5 million dollar verdict. In this case, the child suffered an irreversible brain injury resulting in the diagnosis of cerebral palsy due to substandard medical care.
Motor vehicle accident – $4,950,000

In Re: L.M. etc. vs. United States of America
Howard E. Skolnick represented the Plaintiffs in a medical malpractice federal tort claim lawsuit. This action was pursued in Federal District Court in Toledo. It was the plaintiffs’ claim that the failure of the nurses to report to the obstetrician the presence of maternal fever was decisive in the obstetrician’s management of labor, as well as whether or not to have the neonatal resuscitation team at the time of delivery. It was plaintiffs’ position L.M. (baby) suffered from lack of ventilation and perfusion after the delivery for approximately three minutes, until she was intubated by the neonatal nurse. The obstetrician indicated had he known of the maternal fever, he would have suspected an infection and offered a C-section 55 minutes prior to the actual delivery during which time there was stress on the fetus as
reported by the fetal heart tracings. As a result of these delays, L.M. suffered hypoxic ischemic
encephalopathy and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy including spastic quadriplegia, profound
cognitive loss as well as loss of vision.

Howard E. Skolnick represented the Plaintiffs in a premises liability and automobile negligence law suit where a seventy eight year old garage pedestrian was struck and killed by an automobile.

Howard E. Skolnick achieved a 750,000 dollar settlement in a motor vehicle accident case where Plaintiff suffered subdural hemorrhage, laceration of his liver, transthoracic aortic endovascular replacement, L2-4 fusion, L5-S1 disc bulge, multiple rib fractures and a fracture of the right scapula.
