Ohio Drivers: How to Respond to Hit-and-Runs

News   April 7, 2025

As reported by Bankrate in the article “What to do after a hit-and-run in Ohio”, a car accident turns into a hit-and-run the moment one party involved flees the scene without sharing their information. The article outlines what Ohio drivers need to know about these serious offenses and the consequences they can face.

In Ohio, even minor incidents—such as hitting a mailbox without leaving a note—can be classified as hit-and-runs. While many offenders are at fault and flee to avoid consequences, some leave the scene simply due to being uninsured. Alarmingly, over 17% of Ohio drivers are uninsured, according to 2022 data from the Insurance Information Institute, which heightens the risk of hit-and-run cases across the state.
