What Is Medical Malpractice—and Are You a Victim?

News   July 28, 2025

As outlined by Medical News Today in their article “What Is Medical Malpractice?” medical malpractice occurs when a healthcare professional provides substandard care that results in harm, injury, or even death. It’s a serious legal issue that affects thousands of patients annually across the United States.

At its core, medical malpractice refers to situations where a doctor or other healthcare provider fails to take appropriate action, administers improper treatment, or makes a critical error in areas such as diagnosis, medication dosage, treatment plan, or follow-up care. When that failure directly leads to a patient’s harm, the provider may be held legally responsible.
