Car AccidentsNews   January 23, 2017

It’s dangerous on the roads, particularly when there are large vehicles around you with poor visibility. Truck accidents are commonplace on highways, even though there are safety regulations to help reduce and eliminate them. It’s an unfortunate fact that some drivers don’t pay attention. Others fall asleep or drive recklessly while they’re behind the wheel.

In this case, one person died and another was injured following a serious collision in Whitewater Township. A Dec. 11 report states that a semi-tractor trailer that was being driven southbound by a 31-year-old man who lost control on Interstate 275 near the 22-mile marker. The driver, veered off the left side of the road before entering the northbound lane of Interstate 275.

A 35-year-old man’s vehicle was struck by the semi, killing him immediately. His passenger, a 30-year-old, was rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the semi was taken to Mercy West Hospital for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries before being arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter.

As of the time of the news, it wasn’t said if the driver had been intoxicated or if other factors played into the accident. The driver may be convicted of vehicular manslaughter and potentially other crimes if the investigation reveals other potential factors. If you lose a loved one in a similar situation, you do have the right to pursue a claim against a negligent driver or anyone who caused an accident. Whether you need to pay for medical expenses or need to replace a lost income, a legal claim could be helpful.
