Understanding Birth Injuries in Newborns
As shared by Cleveland Clinic in its informative piece on “birth injuries”, while birth injuries are relatively uncommon, they remain a source of concern for many new and expecting parents. Most injuries that occur during delivery are minor and resolve with little or no treatment, but some can be more serious and require medical intervention.
Birth injuries—medically referred to as neonatal birth trauma—occur during labor and delivery. Despite careful monitoring by healthcare providers, complications during childbirth can still arise due to factors beyond anyone’s control. However, in rare cases, injuries may result from medical negligence, such as delayed C-sections, improper use of delivery tools, or failure to monitor fetal distress.
