Work-related accident kills former Marine
The construction industry is comprised of many jobs that pose a certain amount of risk and danger to workers. When an Ohio employee is injured in a work-related accident, he or she is typically able to file a compensation claim for benefits that can help pay medical bills and replace lost wages. A recent tragedy occurred that involved a former U.S. Marine who was a husband, as well as the father of a six-month-old baby girl. The man was working for a company in another state called STEC Equipment at the time. He was operating a front loader vehicle, which had its boom supported by a forklift.
The boom apparently slipped off the forklift, which then caused the piece of heavy machinery to tip over. The man reportedly jumped out of the vehicle as it was tilting. The boom then fell, hitting the 28-year-old worker in the head.
Depending upon the circumstances, a spouse who survives the deceased in a similar work-related accident in Ohio may have questions or concerns that he or she wishes to have answered by a legal professional. A first logical step to take would be to contact an attorney who is experienced in workers’ compensation cases. After reviewing the details of the incident, a legal advocate would be able to launch an investigation in order to determine how best to proceed with regard to filing a compensation claim through the employer and/or discerning whether there are grounds to pursue legal action in addition to the claiming of benefits.
