What’s at Stake in the Supreme Court Conversion Therapy Case?
As reported by Cleveland.com in the article “10 months later, Bibb’s driver has yet to face a reprimand in crash as case drags on,” the U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear a pivotal case on free speech that challenges Colorado’s statewide ban on conversion therapy for LGBTQ+ youth. The decision, expected in 2026, could have broad implications for similar laws across the country.
The central issue before the court revolves around Colorado’s Minor Conversion Therapy Law, which currently prohibits licensed mental health professionals from attempting to change a minor’s sexual orientation or gender identity during counseling. Those found violating the statute face serious consequences, including a $5,000 fine and the possible revocation of their professional license.
